Your questions can relate to Mrs. D's presentation on 11/11, or extend to your internships or classroom instruction in general.

HI MS. DIPAULO!

Okay, questions;

Do you ever have any issues with one person in a group not doing the work and just leaving it to the rest of the group? If you do, what do you do about it? I'm guessing you talk to them about it but what are the punishments? Do they not get the grade? I'm so hung up that you let them work in groups on tests and what not. It's amazing. It seems like it works though.

Hi Kate, When it comes to group testing situations I am monitoring group participation and if there is a student not engaged in discussion then he/she will not participate in current or future group tests. They are required to show ALL work for each problem. No work no credit and the tests are all or nothing. No partial credit. Usually a leader emerges and what matters to me is the discussion between students to solve problems. The tests are quite difficult and when there are only 10 problems the risk of trusting one group member is costly. Hope that helps. Christine
